Come on…when was the last time you rode that horse or the pony at the country fair? And if hiking the North Carolina Appalachian Trail is not on the agenda for today’s activity, then maybe a leisurely horseback adventure at the Cataloochee Ranch or other local outfitter may interest you. The Maggie Valley Great Smokey Mountain area has several local horseback riding sources, just minutes away from your vacation home. Riders are grouped according to their riding ability in order to give everyone a pleasant experience. The pace is determined by the terrain and circumstances of the day. For safety the wranglers carry first-aid kits and have radio communication with the Ranch office at all times. Enjoy hosts of wildflowers, mile-high vistas, lush forests, or the cool quietness of rhododendron tunnels as you ride through Cataloochee Ranch or surrounding Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

The Appalachian Mountains, beautiful views, horseback riding and more...Little Creek Outfitters, located in Hot Springs, Western North Carolina, offers horseback rides for one to five persons on half day and full day expeditions in the Great Smoky Mountains and Pisgah National Forest. Sunrise, sunset and overnight rides and horseback / fly fishing trips are also available. Little Creek Outfitters is a stable with a difference! With over ten years experience, our guides are knowledgeable about the flora, fauna, history and lore of the Southern Appalachians. Our rides are tailored for intermediate and advanced riders. We carefully match our riders to a specific horse for the best ride possible. We have both English and Western saddles and helmets are available upon request. All our guides are first-aid certified. You can bring your own lunch, or have us prepare a meal for you. During the summer months we are open seven days a week.
